The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has restated its readiness for the Ondo State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 26, 2016.
Reacting to the recent verdict by the Court of Appeal that just sacked Jimoh Ibrhim who is the PDP flag bearer from the Ali Modu Sherrif faction, the party maintained that the entrance of Jegede will make the contest more competitive and interesting.
The Deputy National Secretary of the Party, Oji Ngofa, while briefing journalists, said that the party is battle ready to dethrone the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state no matter the candidate they present, insisting that available records show that APC is the only party ready for the election as others party’s are busy calling for postponement.
Ngofa said: “It is okay. No table has turned against us. I can say we are prepared. The ruling is a welcome development; it shows that our judicial system is working and they have continuously proving that they are the hope of every person, especially the so call common man and so our party is ready for Jegede, even if you put them together, we are prepared. Come Saturday, Ondo chapter would be a party for us.
The APC Deputy Secretary further revealed that the party has gone a long way in reconciling all the factions in the party which was a fallout of the primary’s where some aggrieved members who felt dissatisfied with the election dumped the party while the rest refused to work with the APC candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu.
“I want to say also that a lot has gone positively in terms of reconciliation with the little issues that emanated from the primaries. I can confirm to you that reconciliation has gone on very well and everybody is prepared and ready for the Saturday, 26 and by the grace of God our party would be triumphant in the election. Don’t forget that our preparation from the beginning was to remove PDP from Ondo State” he said.
He maintains that the entrance of Jegede has not turned against the party as the target of the party is to dethrone the PDP led government no matter the candidate they present.
“Whoever represents PDP in Ondo State – be it Jimoh Ibrahim or Jegede- we are prepared. We are better ready, better prepared in Ondo than any other party as at today. So, we welcome the contest, we welcome the healthy contest that Jegede legal victory would bring to the entire process. It is good for Ondo State, it is god for Nigeria but APC is prepared to win Ondo State on Saturday.
The Ondo state election, slated for Saturday will been keenly contested between Rotimi Akeredolu of the APC, Eyitayo Jegede of the PDP and Olusola Oke of the Alliance for Democracy, AD.
