Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has angrily hit out at his players after their 1-1 Premier League draw against Everton on April 4, 2017.
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid gaffer was not happy with the result which would have helped their quest of maintaining the pressure on the top four teams on the standings if they had won the tie. NAIJ.com can report that United were close to a defeat before Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s goal at the death saved the Red Devils from an embarrassing home defeat.
Mourinho said his wards are suffering confidence crisis and particularly told left back Luke Shaw to grow up. “I could feel some of the boys in trouble with the confidence levels. When confidence is not high the quality of the performance is not easy to improve. “We are the second team in the Premier League with most shots, but we are the third worst in relation between shots and the number of goals we score,” he explained. On left back Luke Shaw, Mourinho said:”I think he has to change his football brain. “I was telling him just now that he was doing things in the second half because he was reacting to my voice.
“If he was playing on the other side, for sure he wouldn’t do it because I was not there to think for him. He needs maturity and maturity comes with responsibility,” Mourinho stated. Manchester United have already won a title this season, and the Red Devils are also in the last eight of the Europa League, but finishing among the top four at the end of the season is Mourinho’s major priority.
